Bowhead whale migration timing and emerging threats

This research uses passive acoustic monitoring to explore the relationship between bowhead whale presence and sea ice in the Bering and Chukchi Seas to determine if migration patterns are changing, and to assess increasing seasonal overlap between bowhead core use areas and vessel traffic.

Humpback whale relationships with prey hotspots

This research explores the relationship between humpback whales and their primary prey in the California Current Ecosystem from local to regional scales to inform conservation and management of three humpback whale distinct population segments within an ecosystem-based management framework.

Blue whale chronic exposure to vessels

This research uses whale GPS and vessel AIS positions to explore chronic exposure of blue whales to vessel traffic at their summer foraging grounds in southern California and investigates the context of close passages to better understand ship strike risk.
